You Are Here

Have you ever seen a map of a place, and in the middle of it there is a little marker with “YOU ARE HERE” on it?  Sometimes it’s nice to know where you are–like if you’re in a crowded mall, or on a complicated hiking trail.

I think the YOU ARE HERE marker is a great reminder to stop and be present.  You are here.  Now.  In this moment.

This morning I read of a young woman’s passing (read about her on her blog obituary here), and like most of the articles like this which is about a life cut short–it reminds me that life is a gift.  We don’t know when our day will come when we’ll pass on, so we better make the most of what we’ve got!

You are here.  You are here and you have so many things to be grateful for.  Think of those things when life gets you down or you’re feeling discouraged.  Chances are you aren’t 36 (like the young lady who just passed away), dying, having to wear a colostomy bag, and knowing 2 little kids are being left behind without your love and care.

You are here.  You are loved.  You are important.  You are enough.  You don’t have to be anybody famous or do anything special–you are already enough just as you are.

how to find yourselfYou are here.  Today is a new day and another brand new chance to start over.  In this moment.  You get umpteen do-overs in this life.  Just because life might feel overwhelming in a minute (or month) doesn’t mean it will last forever.

You are here.  You are beautiful.  You are uniquely you.
